Used to hate my 45 minute bus ride but now I actually look forward to it

I switched from scrolling on my phone to bringing a paperback about 3 months ago, and somehow I've read 12 books since then. Plus yesterday this older guy next to me saw the cover and we had a whole conversation about sci-fi for like 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a random commute connection like that?

Man that sci-fi connection sounds sick. Reminds me of when I was on the train and this lady saw my Discworld book and pulled out her own copy from her bag, same cover and everything. We ended up missing our stop together and had to catch the next train back, but honestly worth it. I think there's something about seeing someone read a physical book that makes people more likely to talk to you compared to earbuds in and phone out. Plus you get way better recommendations that way too.

Same cover and everything" is WILD, that's a FULL cosmic alignment right there. Did you swap reading lists or did she have a hot take about the Watch books that you strongly disagreed with? I swear those random book-bonding moments hit different than any online recommendation because you're FORCED to actually hold a conversation instead of just liking a post.
