A customer's question about 'AI PCs' made me rethink my whole spiel
Last Tuesday a guy came in with a broken laptop and asked if I could 'just swap the AI chip' so it would run faster. I laughed at first, then realized he genuinely thought every new computer had some magic AI part that made everything better. He wasn't dumb, he just heard the marketing from every commercial and figured it was like a graphics card. I spent 20 minutes explaining that most of the AI stuff is just software and cloud services, not a physical upgrade. It hit me that I've been doing the same thing for years with clients, using jargon like 'thermal paste' and 'bottlenecking' without checking if they even know what a CPU does. Since then I've started every consult with a plain English breakdown of what actually wears out and costs money to fix. Do any of you have a standard intro you use with customers who are totally green to how computers work?
