Booting from a USB with a broken BIOS, the 3AM trick that saved my shift
Got a Dell OptiPlex in from a client in Akron with a BIOS that would hang right at the logo, no POST beep, nothing. Tried reseating RAM, clearing CMOS with the jumper, even swapped the PSU, zero luck. Then I remembered a tip about using a FreeDOS USB with a tiny utility called 'uniFlash' to force a BIOS recovery from a file on the drive. Set the boot priority to USB via a hidden key combo, and it flashed clean in under 4 minutes, machine booted like it was new. Has anyone else had luck with that utility, or do you all just swap motherboards when the BIOS goes sideways like that? Curious if there's a safer method I missed.
