Called BS on solid state drives back in 2010, now I feel stupid

I remember when SSDs first hit the market for regular people. My buddy dropped like $400 on a 120GB drive and I told him he was crazy for paying that much per gig. I was still using old 7200 RPM drives and thought they were fast enough for what I did. Then I had to upgrade a customer's laptop at the shop in Portland and popped in an SSD just to test it. Boot times went from 2 minutes down to about 15 seconds and I swear I just stood there staring at the screen. It felt like the computer was actually listening to me for once instead of taking a lunch break. Now I won't even build a system without one for the boot drive. Has anyone else had a piece of tech they fought against that ended up being totally worth it?

Fought bluetooth earbuds for years, kept telling myself wires were fine. Finally caved and got a pair a few months ago, now I can't go back to untangling cords every time I go for a run.

Ditched wired headphones last year, best decision I ever made. Can't believe I held out so long.

Yeah the boot time thing gets me every time. I tell people to try it once and they'll never go back. Just make sure you keep your old drive for storage though, don't need to waste money on a huge SSD right away.
