Client called my benchmark numbers fake, turns out they had a point

I always ran hard drive tests with the case closed, but after a customer in Phoenix said my 42 MB/s read speed looked doctored because their machine hit 95 open, I re-ran everything with the side panel off and found thermals were choking my results by nearly half, so now I ask, do you guys ever adjust your testing setup based on ambient temp or airflow?
