Debate: Should we still bother fixing old PCs or is it time to just tell customers to buy new?
Three years ago I charged a guy $150 to swap a dead capacitor on his 2012 Dell Optiplex, and last week a kid brought in a 2018 HP with a cracked screen and I told him it wasn't worth it, so where do you draw the line between saving a machine and wasting someone's money?

Right? Draw the line at anything with a spinning hard drive and call it a day.

My uncle's still running Windows 95 on a tower from 1996 in his garage, uses it to look up car parts. That's exactly the line though. Once something starts spinning or clicking, you know it's old tech that's gonna fail eventually. Whole world's moved on to instant on and silent everything, but some people just refuse to let go of that noisy stuff. It's like they're scared of the future or something.
