Had a client last Tuesday who insisted I use their 'gaming PC' for music production

This guy in Burbank had me drive out to look at his rig because it kept crashing during recording sessions. He spent like $4,000 on RGB everything and a top end GPU but had a bottom tier processor and 8GB of slow RAM. I told him the GPU doesn't do much for audio processing and he got all defensive, said I didn't know what I was talking about. Look man, I get that gaming builds look cool but for actual workstation tasks like music production or video editing, you gotta balance the parts. Has anyone else run into customers who totally mismatch their components for what they actually do?

Exactly, it's wild how people drop all that cash on bling and skimp on the parts that actually do the work... I've seen guys put a top-end graphics card in a budget PC for video editing and wonder why their render times are trash.

Read something the other day about how people will spend big on a fancy case with LEDs but grab the cheapest power supply they can find. Drives me crazy too, @kai657 its like they forget the basics actually matter for performance.
