Overpaid for a 2TB NVMe, got 1TB instead, who's fault is it really?

I bought a 2TB drive off a marketplace listing last month, paid $140, and when I checked in the BIOS it was a 1TB model with swapped labels. I could fight the seller or eat the loss, but honestly I didn't verify anything before sending cash. Has anyone else trusted a listing photo and got burned, or do you always crack the drive open and check the controller chips first?

people trust photos of everything these days, even houses and cars, so why would we suddenly get smart about hard drives?
