Rant: The $90 thermal paste I bought for a server job was a total waste.

The client's old paste was fine, and the fancy stuff made zero difference in the final temps. Has anyone else found that the cheap white stuff works just as well for most repairs?

The white stuff isn't cheap paste, it's just standard silicone thermal compound that's been around forever. Maybe that's the real lesson here, you know?
