Recovered a dead RAID 5 array with a $20 SATA cable

Last Thursday I got a call from a small law office in Fresno, their file server wouldn't boot. Turned out the RAID 5 controller marked two drives as failed, but one was just a loose SATA connection inside the hot swap bay. I reseated it with a cheap cable from my van and the array rebuilt overnight. Anyone else had a false failed drive scare that was just a physical connection issue?

Man, that's the classic one right there. We see it all the time when folks swap bays or bump the case during cleaning, the contacts get just slightly off and the controller freaks out. Always reseat everything and check the cable before you even think about replacing a drive, saved me more than a few rebuilds over the years.
