That Windows registry trick from a client in Phoenix got me out of a 3 hour reinstall
Client brought in a laptop that kept blue screening on boot and I was about to just wipe it and start over. Before I did, this guy who runs a repair shop in Phoenix told me to boot into recovery and delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Took me about 90 seconds and the thing booted straight to desktop with zero data loss. I've used that same fix on three machines this month alone. Anyone else have a go-to registry hack that saves you from a nuke and reinstall?
Man that upperfilters thing is a life saver, feels like half of tech work is just knowing which tiny thing to delete instead of starting over. Same deal with clogged drains or a stuck zipper, everybody jumps to replacing the whole thing when one small fix does it. Wild how often the answer is just remove the one bad piece and let the rest do its job.
