Thinking about that time I drove three states over for a motherboard swap...

Got a job to replace a fried motherboard at a small business way out in Wyoming. Spent two days on the road, staying in motels and eating gas station food, which feels wild compared to today's remote fixes. Do you guys ever get sent on crazy trips like that anymore?

Ever consider that local techs could have missed something only an expert could spot? Some hardware problems really do need hands-on work to properly diagnose, and the business probably lost more money being down than they spent on your trip. They wanted the final say from someone they trusted.

Seriously, was that really the only option for a fried motherboard?

I mean, did they even try to get a second opinion first?
