Vent: I thought the whole 'dust in the power supply' thing was overblown until a client's rig caught fire

Had a customer bring in a gaming PC that was shutting down under load. It was full of dust, but I figured a quick clean would do it. I almost skipped the power supply because it looked okay from the outside. Popped the cover and the inside was packed solid, like a gray carpet. Two days later, they called back saying it sparked and smoked. That convinced me to never skip a full PSU teardown on a dirty system, even if it adds 20 minutes to the job. How do you guys handle dirty builds to avoid missing something like that?

Learned that lesson the hard way too. My shop smelled like burnt hair for a week.

That smell, @claireo67, is the scent of a universal truth.
