A pour in Portland last month made me switch up my edge work
I used to just run a hand trowel along the forms to finish edges, but on a big slab for a new garage, the corners kept chipping after stripping. Now I use a 1/4 inch radius edger right after the bull float, then hit it again with a magnesium trowel before the final pass. That extra step with the edger makes a huge difference in durability. Anyone else have a specific tool they added to their routine that fixed a common problem?

My dad swears by his margin trowel.

What kind of projects does he use it for? My husband has one but it mostly just sits in his toolbox. I'm curious if we're missing out on a good trick.

You say "makes a huge difference in durability" but honestly, is it really that serious? I mean, a chip here and there on a garage slab, who's even gonna notice after a year of oil stains and tire marks? @angelas78 I bet your husband's tool sits there for a reason, maybe the problem isn't as big as people make it out to be. Seems like folks just want an excuse to buy another specialty tool and feel like they're doing something fancy.
