I finally pushed back on a foreman in Phoenix who insisted a broom finish was always the right call for a driveway.
He told me, 'A broom finish hides everything, kid,' but I saw the homeowner's face fall when they wanted that smooth, sealed look for their classic car garage, so what's your go-to finish when a client has a specific vision that goes against standard practice?

Wait, doesn't a broom finish actually show MORE flaws over time as it wears? The ridges hold dirt and make cracks more obvious. For a garage floor, especially for a car guy, I'd push for the smooth finish they want. It's their house, and a proper sealed smooth slab is way easier to keep clean.

Please, a smooth floor is a slip and fall waiting to happen.

I read that broom finishes actually trap dirt and fade faster than sealed smooth floors, so you were right to push back.
