Lead finisher in Tulsa told me my float was leaving too much cream on top, and it messed up a whole patio
Honestly I was floating a 12x16 patio pour last month and he walked by and said my magnesium float was pulling up too much cream, which made the broom finish look blotchy once it dried. Tbh I switched to a fresno earlier in the process and started floating tighter, and the finish came out way cleaner on the next three jobs. Ngl does anyone else wait longer before floating or am I still rushing it?
My float game was so bad early on that a guy asked if I was trying to butter the whole slab. Sounds like you figured out the fresno timing better than I did for a while there. Waiting longer before floating definitely helped me too, the cream sets up enough that you're not just smearing it around.
