Met a guy in Denver who showed me a wild trick for a hot pour

We were doing a big patio in July, sun beating down. This older finisher, Frank, saw me struggling with the set. He walked over, grabbed my magnesium float, and said, 'Kid, you're fighting it. Let it sweat first.' He waited a full 15 minutes after the bleed water was gone before he even touched it. The finish came out smooth as glass. Anyone else have a weird timing trick for hot weather?

Let it sweat first" sounds like a good tip, but I get where @gavink95 is coming from. On a real schedule, a 15 minute pause for every pour isn't always in the cards. Is the finish really that much worse if you just mist it and keep moving?

Frank's 15 minute wait sounds like a good way to get fired for standing around.

@lee582 and @gavink95 the sweat step is key. Skip it and you're just wet sanding drywall, not getting that smooth finish.
