My crew lost a full pour because of one busted hose clamp on a Thursday
We had 14 yards of 4000 psi ordered for a driveway in Tempe and the pump truck showed up at 6am ready to go. About 3 yards in, the delivery hose clamp let go and we had mud spraying across the forms and half the street. By the time we got it swapped we had maybe 20 minutes of working time left and the mix was already stiffening up on us. We ended up with a cold joint right through the middle of the slab and had to tear out 6 feet of it the next morning after the homeowner saw it. Who else keeps spare clamps on the truck, or is that just me being paranoid now?
Ugh, that brings back bad memories of a pour in Chandler where our clamp snapped and we lost most of a truck. What saved us was keeping two spares and a cheater bar in the toolbox, plus we started checking every clamp before the pump even hooked up. Now I won't roll without at least one backup, it's cheap insurance against a very expensive mess.
