Old foreman told me to never pour concrete in the rain, I called his bluff and paid for it
Last Tuesday we had a small residential slab to do in Tulsa, about 12 yards. Sky looked iffy but I figured I could rush it. Well half way through finishing the rain came down hard. Surface turned to a mess, couldn't get a good trowel finish. Ended up having to rip out the whole thing and repour it two days later. Cost me $400 in extra material and a full Saturday. Should have listened to the guy with 30 years experience.

Ask him what he thought after the first bucket of water hit the mud?

Did you actually watch him though? He didn't seem surprised at all, like he knew what was coming. I get that mud is supposed to be hard to work with, but he made it look almost too easy from the start. The way he just kept pushing through it kind of tells me he had a plan before he even touched the stuff. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that first bucket didn't seem to bother him one bit.
