Rant: The day a squirrel stole my magnesium float

So I'm finishing a small patio in my own backyard, just a simple 12x12 slab. I set my tools down to grab a drink, and this bold little gray squirrel runs up, grabs my brand new Marshalltown magnesium float, and tries to haul it off. I'm not kidding, it had the handle in its mouth and was dragging it across the grass. I had to chase the thing halfway across the yard before it dropped it near the fence. The float had little teeth marks in the wood handle. I've had birds land on fresh cream, but a full-on tool heist by a rodent is a new one. Has a wild animal ever messed with your setup while you were working?

I saw a story online about a guy in Portland who had a crow steal his tape measure three times from his open tool bag. The bird would wait for him to turn his back, swoop in, and fly off with it to the same roof. They're smart enough to want shiny things, I guess. Makes a squirrel going for a float seem almost normal.
