The new permit process for driveway jobs adds a whole day of waiting

Back in the day, we'd start at dawn and be done by noon. Now I spend half the morning on the phone with the city.

Yeah, being on hold with the city is the worst. Last time I tried to get a simple fence permit, I had to call three different offices just to find out who to talk to. What's the longest you've been stuck on hold?

City hold times are a master class in patience. Once waited so long my phone battery died twice. Started recognizing the hold music as old pop hits. Pretty sure I could have built the fence myself in less time. Still waiting for a callback from 2019, honestly.
