The pump hose trick a finisher showed me in Tulsa 4 months back finally clicked
Back in March I was on a 12,000 sq ft warehouse slab in Tulsa and the pump guy kept telling me to move my hose in a slow arc instead of dragging it straight. I nodded and kept doing it my way for about 3 weeks. Then we hit a pour where the mix was running a bit wet and I got a 6 inch slump line right down the middle of bay 4. He walks over, doesn't say a word, just grabs the hose and shows me the arc again. Cut my touch up time on that slab from 2 hours down to about 40 minutes. Now I set up every pour with that arc in mind before the truck even shows up. Curious if anyone else had a pump guy set them straight like that, or is it just me?
just grabs the hose and shows me the arc again" is the most pump guy thing I've ever read. No lecture, no I told you so, just the silent hose grab. Three weeks of nodding along and doing it your way, then a slump line down bay 4 teaches you what the man couldn't. Honestly the wet mix did more training than he did.
