Why does nobody talk about power trowel blades wearing out unevenly on residential driveways

Did a 30 yard driveway last week outside Peoria. Started getting weird washboarding about halfway through the float pass. Took me 20 minutes to realize my right outside blade was 1/8 inch shorter than the left one. I swear I check them before every pour but I missed it. Anybody else notice certain blade brands wear lopsided faster than others?

I had the same thing happen last spring on a big driveway job outside Moline. The blades on my MBW started wearing unevenly right around the middle of the second pass, and I didn't catch it until I was already 20 feet in. It drove me nuts trying to figure out why the finish was going south on me.

Yeah "the finish was going south on me" is the worst feeling. You're just staring at it like how did I miss this.
