Can we talk about how I've been loading my dishwasher wrong for 10 years

I was at my buddy's place in Phoenix last Friday and he showed me how he puts all his plates facing inward, not outward like I've always done. Turns out the spray arm was blocked this whole time and half my dishes were just getting rinsed. Anyone else find out they've been doing a basic thing wrong their whole life?
