Figured out my neighbor was stealing my wifi after 4 months of slow speeds

I kept blaming my ISP for lag spikes around 2 AM, but it turned out my neighbor had guessed my default router password and was torrenting every night. Took me a whole evening with Wireshark to catch them, has anyone else dealt with a lazy hacker like that?

Totally disagree with @casey843 on this one. Calling them "dedicated" feels way too generous. They used a default password. That's not skill, that's just being too cheap to pay for their own internet. Four months of slow speeds for me while they download movies. That's not patience, that's entitlement. If they were really "stubborn" they'd have found a way to get their own connection after week one.

Good point @casey843 stubborn fits better than lazy.

Huh, I gotta push back a little on calling your neighbor a "lazy hacker." Torrenting every night at 2 AM for four months actually takes some dedication. Most people would give up after a week or just buy their own internet. You got to admit, they had some serious patience to keep guessing or using that same default password over and over without getting caught sooner. Plus, if they were really lazy, they would have just asked to split the bill instead of going through all that trouble. Is it possible they are more stubborn than lazy?
