I used to laugh at the 'birds aren't real' thing, but a friend's drone story made me think twice

My buddy works for a city parks department in Sacramento, and he told me they have a contract with a company that uses tiny drones that look exactly like pigeons to monitor crowd sizes at events. He showed me a picture of one up close, and the details were insane. I always thought it was just a silly meme, but now I'm not so sure about the scale of surveillance tech out there. Has anyone else come across something like this in their own city?

My cousin in Austin said they used those fake pigeon drones to check for water leaks in old pipes. It's not just crowds, they're putting them anywhere we wouldn't look twice.

My buddy in Phoenix saw those fake pigeons checking power lines last year.
