My uncle told me to ignore the 'birds aren't real' stuff back in 2019, said it was just a joke. Now I see people taking it seriously and I think he was wrong to dismiss it.

Look at what kim_hart7 said about it being a joke, and they're totally right. The whole point was to make fun of wild conspiracy theories. Now some folks missed the memo and actually believe it, which is kind of the funniest part. I saw a guy trying to "de-bird" a park bench with a screwdriver last year, lol. The joke got so big it turned into its own weird thing.
