The tile guy in Denver talked me out of using a wet saw for our backsplash

I was dead set on renting a wet saw for our kitchen backsplash last month, but this old tile setter at the hardware store convinced me to try a manual snap cutter instead. He said for subway tile under 12 inches, it's cleaner and way less mess. It took me maybe 2 extra hours but zero broken tiles and no water cleanup. Has anyone else switched tools against their gut instinct and had it work out?

I used a snap cutter for a full tile floor once. 400 square feet of 12x24 porcelain. Never again. It worked but my hands were wrecked for a week. What size tiles were you cutting? I'd swap for a wet saw any day on anything over 8 inches.
