Unpopular opinion: the moon landing footage has way too many shadows pointing different directions

I was at a hobbyist photography meetup in Portland last month, and someone brought a projector screen to look at Apollo 11 photos. I noticed shadows from the lander and the flag post going left, but rocks in the foreground had shadows going right. The physics guy there said it could be uneven ground, but I checked four different frames and the angles never lined up. Has anyone else tried tracing those shadow lines yourself?

Me and a buddy tried this with an app that overlays shadow angles on a photo. Took us about an hour to realize the reflection off the lunar surface can mess with your head, especially with long exposure shots. Still doesn't explain why some shadows go opposite directions though.

Did you guys try turning the app off and on again? I swear half the time that fixes weird glitches like shadows going rogue. Still, the moon's lighting is basically a giant flash in a dark room, so maybe the app just gave up.
