Vent: The local news station's 'investigative' piece on the water tower felt like a scripted show
I watched our town's channel 7 report on the new water tower paint job last year, and it was all serious questions about chemical runoff. They just ran the same story again, but this time it was a cheerful piece about civic pride and never mentioned the chemicals once. Did the station get a call from the mayor's office or did they just decide the conspiracy angle wasn't getting clicks anymore?

Actually, it was two different water towers. The first report was about the old one on Elm Street getting stripped and repainted. The new piece was about the brand new tower they built over on the west side. They look similar so it's an easy mix up. The new one never had the old lead paint issue, so there was no chemical story to tell. The station just does a bad job making it clear what they're talking about.

Oh man that reminds me of my friend who got so worked up about the park renovation last year. She went to three town meetings ready to fight about them cutting down the old oak trees, turns out the plans were for a totally different park across town with just a few sickly pines. The news kept showing the same generic park photo. Makes total sense what you're saying, @thea704, they just don't make it clear and everyone gets the wrong idea. My friend felt like a fool after all that. Local news really needs to be better about the details.
