Warning: my friend in Chicago said my moon landing posts were too aggressive
He told me 'you sound like you're yelling at people, not talking with them' last month, so I try to ask more questions now. Does a calm tone actually help change minds, or does it just make people ignore you?

Too aggressive" is a nice way of saying you sound like a guy yelling at pigeons. I get it, the moon stuff is wild, but @jones.angela is right about asking questions. If you just yell facts at someone, they shut down. A calm tone doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're trying to actually talk. Does it always change minds? No, but at least they might stick around to hear you out.

Calm tones just let people tune you out easier because you're not giving them any reason to feel challenged or interested. If you're not making them feel the weight of what you're saying, they'll nod along and change the channel the second you're done. Sometimes you gotta rattle the cage a bit to get someone to actually think about what you're saying instead of just scrolling past it.
