Hit up a gas station in rural Iowa and their pickle flavored popcorn blew my mind

I was driving through some tiny town near Des Moines last month for a job and stopped at this old gas station for gas and snacks. They had this big bin of pickle flavored popcorn sitting next to the register, looked homemade almost. I grabbed a bag on a whim and dude, it was legit. Sour and salty and greasy, but not in a fake way like those chips that just taste like vinegar powder. It made me think about how gas station snacks used to be just basic chips and candy bars, now you got all these weird flavors popping up everywhere. I even saw pickle cotton candy at a fair last year, which is just wrong. But this popcorn, I don't know, it worked. Has anyone else found a weird local snack that turned out way better than you expected?

Wait, was it the dill or the bread and butter kind?

Oh man, dill for sure, I can't imagine bread and butter working in popcorn that would just be sweet and weird. But yeah, I've been noticing this thing where all these old school places like gas stations and diners are trying way harder with their food now. Maybe it's just me but it feels like people are getting tired of the same old processed stuff and want something that actually surprises you a little. Like that popcorn you got probably started as some random experiment by the owner or whoever runs the register, not some big company focus group. I mean it makes sense though, when you're not trying to sell to everyone you can just make something that tastes good and not worry if it's gonna be a hit nationwide.
