Please stop putting marshmallows in your microwave popcorn, it ruins the texture for everyone

I caught my roommate doing this last Tuesday and the kernels came out all chewy and weird, has anyone else had to deal with this kind of snack sabotage?

My buddy tried this once and ended up with a burnt sugar smell that lingered for three days straight, so maybe check your smoke alarm too. Could be your roommate is accidentally creating a fire hazard on top of ruining snack time.

Apparently some folks swear by adding marshmallows to their popcorn for a sweet-salty treat, but they warned that you have to add them at the very end, not before the kernels pop. If you toss them in early they melt and coat everything in a sticky mess that makes the popcorn chewy instead of crispy. Your roommate might be trying to copy those caramel popcorn recipes, but they're missing the key step. Maybe suggest they melt the marshmallows separately and drizzle them over the popped corn, that way everyone gets the texture they want.
