Unpopular opinion: salt and vinegar chips are a waste of good potato

I was at a gas station last week, 7-Eleven on Main, and grabbed a bag of salt and vinegar chips. Big mistake. Saw online from a snack blog that the average bag has like 8% vinegar powder or something. Tastes like eating a pickle while someone hits your tongue with a hammer. Why ruin a perfectly fine chip? I get that people like sour stuff but it overpowers everything. Who actually finishes a whole bag of these without their mouth peeling? Anybody else feel like these chips are just a scam to hide cheap potato quality?

Cringe every time I see someone reach for salt and vinegar chips lol. I bought a bag once thinking I was being adventurous and ended up with my whole mouth feeling like I licked a battery. The vinegar flavor is just way too aggressive it doesn't even taste like food anymore. I swear those chips exist just to punish your taste buds for daring to want something different.

My buddy Josh swears by salt and vinegar chips, eats a whole family size bag in one sitting. I get that they're intense but that's the whole point. Not everything needs to be bland or sweet, sometimes you want your mouth to feel something. The vinegar burn wakes up your taste buds instead of putting them to sleep. Respect that they aren't for everyone, but calling them punishment is a stretch.
