Client told me my blending looked muddy and she was right

Had a woman in her 50s come in for a root touch-up and balayage refresh last Tuesday. She looked at the result and said "the blended part just looks brown and dull, not dimensional." I was annoyed at first but then I looked at it under different lighting. She was right. The lowlights I used were too dark and warm for her base. Changed my formula ratios that same day, added a cooler tone halfway through the processing. Result was way better. Anyone else had a client's offhand comment fix your whole technique?

6 lowlights should melt not darken the whole section though.

Oh man, I gotta disagree a little here. Six lowlights can work if you place them right and spread them out so they're weaving through the sections instead of clumping together. I do more like 8-10 on most balayage clients because it lets me control the depth without making everything look flat. If I only did six and they were too thick or too dark in the formula, yeah that could totally kill the dimension.
