Found out last week that 70% of cosmetologists don't actually sanitize their brushes between clients

I saw a survey from a beauty school trade magazine and it said 7 out of 10 stylists skip brush sanitizing between clients. That blew my mind since I spend like 5 minutes each time with my alcohol spray. Has anyone else seen that stat or noticed this at salons they've worked at?

Stop overlooking the obvious. Those 5 minutes you spend spraying down brushes are exactly why you're the exception not the rule. Most stylists are booked back to back with no gap between clients. The salon owners push for 30 minute turnaround times including blow drying. You do the math. Somewhere between the color application and the checkout process, brush sanitizing gets forgotten. The real issue isn't laziness. Its scheduling and pressure to cram as many heads in chairs as possible.

@ray324 nailed it honestly. People love to blame us stylists for being lazy but it's the 30 minute turnaround that kills everything. I once tried to squeeze in a full sanitize between a perm and a color client and ended up double booking myself by accident. Now I just keep a travel sized alcohol spray in my apron pocket and pray nobody notices the wet spots on the brush handles. Ngl though, some of us are just bad at math and think "spray once, good for three clients" works.
