My aunt told me to use a tiny bit of conditioner on dry hair before a blowout

She swore it would stop frizz and add shine, so I tried it on a client with thick, wavy hair last week. It actually worked way better than any spray I've used, and the style held for three full days. What's the weirdest old-school tip you've heard that turned out to be solid?

Tried that trick on my own hair first. Got a greasy patch right at the crown that wouldn't dry. Maybe it works on some hair types, but it's not a universal fix. Seems like a gamble for a paying client. Old tips can be hit or miss.

Ever try the one about using a cold spoon to smooth down flyaways? My cousin swore by it, so I gave it a shot before a family dinner. Looked like I was trying to perform tiny hair surgery in the bathroom, but it did sort of work for about an hour.

Remember the hairspray trick with a toothbrush for those stubborn bits.
