My old balayage method took 4 hours. Now I'm done in 90 minutes.

I used to section hair into a million tiny pieces and paint each one. A stylist in Denver showed me her wide-panel technique last fall. I switched to using a 2-inch paddle brush for the base and just feathering the ends. The results are way more natural and my clients love the shorter appointment. Anyone else completely change their balayage approach recently?

Honestly, that's how everything gets better.

Wait, you switched to a paddle brush? That's wild. My cousin tried something similar but she ended up with these weird, chunky stripes because she used too much product on the wide sections. It took her forever to fix it. Makes you realize how much the little details matter, even when you're trying to go faster.

But is it really that big of a deal? It's just hair, it'll wash out. People act like a bad hair day is some huge crisis.
