Should we charge more for textured hair or is that outdated?
I was doing a blowout on a client with 4C hair last Tuesday and my comb literally snapped in half. I charged my regular $60 but it took me almost 2 hours longer than a straight hair client. So which side are you on, fair pricing for everyone or charging based on extra time and products?

My cousin runs a shop in Brooklyn and she started doing a flat $20 extra for any hair that takes more than 30 minutes extra to detangle or style. She tells everyone upfront before they even sit in the chair and her regulars actually respect it more because they know their stylist isn't rushing through their hair to break even. I think the whole debate misses the point that most salons don't even give clients a realistic time estimate for textured hair in the first place, so they flip out when the price jumps later.

Oh honey, I have to disagree with this one. Telling people upfront about an extra charge doesn't make it fair, it just makes it upfront unfair. You're basically punishing people for the hair they were born with, and that doesn't sit right with me.
