Tried that viral hair glossing trick with gelatin and my kitchen looked like a horror movie

So I saw this TikTok about using unflavored gelatin as a cheap hair gloss to make your color pop and add shine. I figured hey, it's just protein, what could go wrong lol. Mixed up a packet with warm water and conditioner like the video said, but I think I let it sit too long. By the time I tried to pour it over my hair in the shower, it had turned into this sticky, semi-solid blob that plopped onto the floor and my bath mat. I spent 20 minutes picking gelatin chunks out of my hair and scrubbing it off the tiles. Learned my lesson though, stick to the actual glossing products from the beauty supply store. Has anyone else tried a DIY hair treatment that completely backfired on them?

Oh man, that sounds like a total nightmare! The way gelatin turns into that weird blob so fast is no joke. I tried that same trick once and ended up with what looked like a gelatinous creature clinging to my shower drain. Took forever to get it all off my bath mat too. Hopefully your hair is okay, because that stuff can be a real pain to rinse out completely.

A buddy of mine once tried that gelatin hair trick in his sink instead of the shower. Big mistake. @cameron_webb you're right about it clinging to everything. He ended up with this solid lump stuck in the drain pipe and had to take the whole drain apart to fish it out. Took him like two hours with a wire hanger and a flashlight. His hair smelled like lime jello for a week after.
