Warning: I just threw out $200 on a 'professional' color remover kit

A client came in wanting to strip a box black dye, and I bought this fancy kit online that promised zero damage. It did nothing but dry her hair out, and I had to do a corrective color anyway. The whole process took 4 hours longer than it should have. I should have just used my usual method from the start. Has anyone else had a product totally fail on a color correction?

It's like buying a fancy tool that just sits in the drawer. The promise of an easy fix is always more expensive than the old reliable method. I've learned that lesson the hard way too.

Bought myself a "professional grade" color remover last year and ended up with the SAME result - dry hair and a wasted weekend. I actually told my stylist @logan632 about it later and he just laughed and said he keeps his old standby bleach setup for a reason. It's like when my mom swore by this expensive "no heat" curling tool that barely held a wave, while her $20 curling iron from the 90s gave her perfect curls every time. Sometimes the simple stuff just WORKS better no matter how fancy the packaging looks.
