Question about that arcade bar in Portland where the couch co-op setup was worse than my living room
I was in Portland two weekends ago and hit up this arcade bar on SE Division that everyone keeps hyping up online. The whole draw is supposed to be retro gaming with friends, so I figured it would be a couch co-op paradise. Nah. They had maybe 8 consoles set up but every single one was on a tiny 24 inch screen with stools bolted to the floor. No couch. Not one. My buddy and I tried to play some Mario Kart and we were shoulder to shoulder like we were on a plane. The whole point of couch co-op is being comfortable and talking trash in the same room, and this place basically turned it into a solo arcade experience with extra steps. I get that floor space is money, but if you name your bar after the thing, maybe actually deliver the thing. Has anyone found a bar in Portland that gets this right, or am I better off just hosting at my place?
Ground Kontrol is the one people always bring up and they at least have some seating, though it still gets packed on weekends. A buddy told me about a spot on Hawthorne with actual couches and a big TV, but I can't remember the name.
