Blew a hydraulic hose on I-35 near Austin this morning. That was a fun 911 call.

Was moving a load of steel beams for a warehouse job just south of Round Rock. Heard a pop and then saw fluid spraying everywhere. Had to set the load down fast in the median. My foreman was not happy about the cleanup or the tow bill. Anyone ever had a hose blow at the worst possible time on a highway?

Hang on, you had to set down a load of steel beams in the median of I-35? That's insane, man. I'm honestly shocked you found a spot to do that without causing a pileup, that stretch of highway is a madhouse. I had a smaller hose blow on my personal truck once at a red light and it was a mess, I can't imagine dealing with a full commercial load on the shoulder.

Not quite a load of steel beams actually, those were big concrete barriers they were moving. Steel beams wouldve been way sketchier to just drop in the median like that, especially on I-35 where everybody drives 80. Concrete barriers are heavy but they dont roll or shift as bad when you set them down fast. Still crazy they found a gap to drop them though, that highway is a parking lot half the day.

Steel beams would've been way worse for sure.
