Changed my mind about riding out a wind gust after what happened on the 14th floor
I was setting a 4,000 lb AC unit on a roof in Dallas last Tuesday when the wind picked up to about 22 mph and I decided to keep going instead of stopping, because the pick was almost done. Halfway through the swing the load started spinning and the tagline guy could not hold it, so I boomed down, set it on the deck, and shut the machine off. I always figured stopping for wind was for rookies, but after standing there watching that thing swing, who here actually has a wind cutoff number they stick to?
