Had to lift a generator onto a roof in a tight alley in Philly yesterday

The wind picked up right as I was swinging the load, and I had to hold it steady for about ten minutes while the crew secured the tag lines... my forearms are still sore. What's the longest you've had to hold a tricky lift in place?

Honestly, my main thought was just hoping my arms wouldn't give out before the wind did. It felt like one of those awful gym exercises where you just hold a weight forever. The real victory was not dropping a generator on someone's car.

Man, that's the worst when the weather turns on you mid-lift. It's wild how often the hardest part of a job isn't the heavy lifting itself, but just waiting and holding steady. Feels like life is full of those moments where you're just stuck in a tough spot, putting in the work but not making any forward progress. What was going through your head while you were just holding it there?

Yeah, that feeling of "putting in the work but not making progress" is so real. I read a thing once that called it "isometric stress," just holding the line against a force.
