Had to pick between a fancy lunch break or hauling a load on time yesterday
So I'm running a 60-ton crawler at a site near Portland and the foreman gives me two options: stop for a hot meal at the food truck or finish this steel bundle drop before the 2 PM cutoff. I said screw it and grabbed a cold sandwich from my cooler instead, kept the hook moving. Finished the lift with 10 minutes to spare but man, that food truck smelled like heaven. Anyone else ever had to skip a decent bite just to keep a job on schedule?

Finished the lift with 10 minutes to spare" - that's 10 more minutes than I usually have for lunch during a busy cleaning route. I once ate a granola bar so fast I didn't even taste it, just felt the crumbs. Another time I straight up forgot to eat until 4 PM and then my hands were shaking so bad I almost knocked over a vase at a client's house. Honestly, cold sandwiches are the backbone of getting stuff done on time. But yeah, that food truck smell is a special kind of torture, like when you're scrubbing a bathroom and someone walks by with fresh donuts.

The food truck smell hits different when you're elbow-deep in bleach.
