My cheap rigging gloves cost me a full day's pay
I grabbed a pair of those bargain bin gloves for about $15 last month, thinking they'd be fine for light work. One of the seams gave out while I was handling a steel plate yesterday, and the slip made me stop the whole lift to re-rig it safely. That little delay turned into over an hour of downtime, which my boss took right out of my check. Anyone have a brand of gloves that actually holds up for more than a few weeks?

Ouch, that's the universe charging you a stupid tax. Those cheap gloves are basically just fancy hand-warmers that fail on purpose. Never skimp on anything that separates you from the heavy stuff.

Man, you hit the nail on the head! Those "fancy hand-warmers" line is EXACTLY what I tell people. I learned this lesson the hard way too, back when I thought a 5 dollar pair would do the job. Your hands are literally the only thing keeping you from getting seriously hurt in this line of work. It's like buying a cheap ladder or a cheap harness - you're just asking for a bad day. Spend the extra few bucks, it's just common sense.

Honestly, I used to grab the cheapest gloves I could find too. Figured they were all basically the same. Had a pair split on me while pulling wire and it was just a stupid, avoidable risk. Now I see it as paying for safety, not just the glove itself.
