Neighbors grumble about dawn lifts, but I see it different
Most guys think we should delay starts to keep everyone happy. I believe morning light is key for safe picks, so changing times isn't smart.

I worked a landscaping crew for two summers and totally agreed with the neighbors back then. Then we had to do an emergency clear for a town after a storm and started at noon. The shadows were so bad we nearly clipped a power line nobody saw. That flat morning light is the only safe way to see everything, so now I get it.

That point about flat morning light being the only safe way to see everything is SPOT ON. Shadows in the afternoon can hide so many dangers, like power lines or rough spots. It's scary to think how a simple thing like light can make such a BIG difference in safety. Your story about almost hitting a power line really shows why these early starts are needed. I've heard similar stories from other crews, and it just makes sense once you see it happen. Glad you shared this because it helps others get why landscapers work like they do.
