Power line near a job site had me nervous but the spotter was spot on

I was dead set against letting the spotter guide me within 2 feet of a live line last month on a bridge job near Austin, but after watching him nail a 4-ton beam into that gap without so much as a wobble I gotta ask, how do you guys decide when to trust a spotter's clearance call over your own gut feeling?

My first spotter call left me two inches from a utility pole and a new appreciation for hard hats.

Spent twenty years trusting spotters, but I still flinch every time near a power line.
