Question about my rigging setup on a 50-ton lift last month

I was setting up for a pick with a 4-leg bridle, and my spotter asked why I always choked the slings the same way. He pointed out that on a long, uneven load, reversing two of the chokes made the load sit almost perfectly level without any extra adjustments. Has anyone else had a simple tip like that change how they approach a common setup?

Your spotter's observation touches on something deeper than just leveling a load. We get so used to our own methods that we stop seeing the simple geometry right in front of us. Reversing those chokes changes the pull points and the angle of the legs, which can balance the center of gravity in a way we might overcomplicate otherwise. It's a good reminder to step back and look at the whole picture, not just the rigging points. That kind of flexible thinking prevents a lot of last-minute headaches.
